"Attention oh Multitudinous members of this Mutual Appreciation Society!"

Quill v Computer!

It seems we have a conundrum... and as we both (sigh! Yes, it is just you and I again. How the numbers do dwindle when they are needed) seem to be at a loss as what to post on this beautiful, bright sun-shining day, let us make like Plato and sit beneath the spreading branches of ye ancient fig tree and ponder on the matter. ..

The task in question; your BIP (Book In Progress) and my AAW (Attempt At Writing) seem to have come to a) in your case a steady, yet low, drip and, b) mine, erm (inch deep in cyber dust) completely neglected, are in need of a little innovation... or in my case a pagan ritual may be required, to assist in their rejuvenation. Hence the ponderous notion of whether , if we are to make a serious attempt at this "book writing", handwritten or computer keyboard may assist or hinder the flow of inspiration...

A year... no, eighteen months ago (doesn't time fly) when I could see a little better I used to do all my writing with a pen. I used to sit with a huge pad and fill the pages without even realizing it; the words just gushed. Somehow there was a connection; the pen and paper were just extensions of my thoughts, no barriers. Of course as it grew it made sense to put it on the pc and there I began to flounder. Each time I returned and read what went before I saw the
flaws and became so intent on the re-write that I lost the story.

You say the *flick*, *flick* of the cursor is one of the distractions of a pc. I can see that, too. The "hurry up, say something" *flick* *flick* "still waiting!" I find that I have to shut out the world when I write. Some people can "multi-task", I can't do that. I have to switch off the world and go to where my story is, I have to be there. The cursor, the blank screen.....and yet I can type endless trivia on the pc.
So, is it pen and paper that inspires, pc's that distract or just a case of a bad workman blaming his tools?

... let us muse a while, then give me your thoughts. :)

Hey! I just won "Leaves of Yggdrasil" by Freya Aswynn on eBay for £5.50 ! Yay!!! Last time I saw that book it went for over £20!! Great! Great!
"I can do it! " I can do it! Dance... dance...Don't you just love it when you beat the big guys! hahaha
Erm sorry for this interruption; a brief moment of madness. ahem... back to quiet musings ... de de da da da
