I went for my usual walk through the village and along the lanes out into the open fields. It was a sunny day, a light wind with just enough chill to colour the cheeks and make the senses tingle. One of the girls from the riding stables was out exercising her bay gelding and passed with a cheery "Hello!" The clip clop of a steady walk turning into a soft pounding as she turned the horse into the field and hooves met grass at a canter. Somewhere in the hedgerow a pheasant gave a startled cough. Idyllic, yes,. until I turned the bend.

Rubbish lay scattered all along the grass verge thrown from the window of a passing car by the looks of it. Why do people do this? Why do they drive out into the countryside to dump their rubbish when it could so easily be put into a bin? What do they think will happen to it - maybe a gathering of kind faerie folk will magic it away? No, the Council come out eventually and clear it up (at great cost too apparently, hence the increase in rates!). Makes me so mad to see such moronic behaviour. Scumbags really. I only wish I had my camera handy when they drove past!
