shimmering wet roads
... A rainy day.
I woke up with a headache and that yuk, flat, right down there in the dumps feeling. My morning caffeine boost failed. From my window the day was as grey as my mood. I felt caged. I pulled on my shoes, grabbed my jacket and was walking down the drive as the first drops of rain began to fall.
I love rain, in all its moods; the thrill in the passion of a thunderstorm, or just lying in the darkness, troubled, unable to sleep, finding comfort in its gentle music. One of my favorite movies is that old classic, "Singing in the Rain" with Gene Kelly. Now that is happiness and one thing I would really love to do in the rain, especially the way he does it.
As I continued on my walk the rain got heavier and heavier, pretty soon it was running off my nose and chin, my hair so wet it was plastered flat against my skull but my headache and morning dour mood had gone as I returned homward down the lane, doing my very best Gene Kelly impersonation (without lamp-post) singing and splashing in puddles to a mostly indifferent audience of sensibly dressed horses, I felt noticeably happy.

haha... :-)
As you know, I love the rain too... and by coincidence I was doing the exact same thing as you today.
I had to go shop. I went out into the rain wearing no coat so that I could feel the rain on my skin. I was doing the jumping in puddles singing in the rain part too, apart from the fact I was really singing the song too :-D
When I got in, I just sat for some moments watching the rain falling. The tree beyond my window wears yellow blossoms that became tossled and bounced by the droplets fallling on them.

Haha Hi Martin :) Yes, I do know, its a lovely feeling isn't it, and glad to hear you are happy, just hope you sing better than I do. :-D
So true, neko :)
Yes fresh air always helps but doing something you enjoy doing helps too. :) and *Donald Duck impression *sneeze* so far so good hahaha Thanks J.
I love this entry. My favorite of yours so far. Te picture is terrific. I could almost hear the swish of the water on the road as the car goes by.
I love the rain. I love how it makes everything so much cozier; maybe because people end up getting huddled together. *L*
By the way, I linked you up. :)
Hi Yvaine, glad you made it, I've got you linked too.:) I should think your rain is more like standing under a warm shower? :) Very nice, especially when you huddle :p But I agree whatever the temperature there is something rather nice about being together in the rain. :)
