W
ords,

Music

and

... the night

"N
ight-time sharpens, heightens each sensation . . .

Darkness stirs and wakes imagination . . .
Silently the senses abandon their defences . . ."

say the words with a whisper , savour them

"Slow-ly, gent-ly night unfurls its splendour . . .
Grasp it, sense it - tremulous and tender . . .

Softly, deftly, (whisper)
music shall caress you . . .
Hear it, f e e el it
secretly possess you . . .
Open up your mind,
let your fantasies unwind,
in this darkness which
you know you cannot fight -
the darkness of the music of the night . . ."

Magical, tinglingly sensuous aren't they? The words from "Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera ~ my favourite movie and CD at the moment.
Do you light a candle when the sun goes down, when outside beyond your window, all is hushed, shadows lengthen and grow deeper. When its just you, your music, and the night ~ do you lay there in the soft candlelight glow and float away on your dreams? Music can do that, it can close off the world, lift you ... carry you away. This is one song that can do that for me.

When the night was blueberry blue, and when the frosty stars glittered in their places, I was there. I was there by the window with a well worn loved book of poems. I was there with Shelly and Pablo. When the softest whisper warm breath of the summer touched my skin and made my candle dance for me and for her. Was she there? did she hear? Could the tree taste my thinking or was it dumb and beautiful? Anyway, I was there with a candle and the music of the night. Maybe that's all their is. Maybe. The wonder and the unknowing is what keeps us guessing. It's just possible the magic works, the splendid star spangled night knows, the tree tastes my thoughts, that she felt the dance of the candle. Maybe.

The music of the night...

That is a very beautiful comment Martin. Love your choice of poetry too. :)
I hope she shared your thoughts. You should always believe in magic, you know.
