Thank you for all your wishes I had a wonderful holiday with some really unforgettable moments, one of which was watching the sunset from Mount Etna which hopefully I'll post tomorrow.
We went to North East Sicily to the foot of Mount Tauro and the medieval town of Taormina. The town is in a great location, dug into the slopes of the mountain it has fantastic views overlooking the sea, little piazzas and narrow streets and yes, lots and lots of steps and steep slopes! But there is a regular cablecar which makes for a novel and fun way of getting to the beach ~ and our hotel.
I must admit the first night that route was a little nerve-racking when done in reverse and in the dark. It was supposed to be a five minute walk to the cablecar from our hotel. I think by the end of the week we did it in ten. After negotiating the winding narrow steps from the beach, pausing for breath at the end of a steep climb to the road and then walking along the road against traffic and parked cars (no sidewalks)it was quite a relief to jump into a moving cablecar. Well, life's little excitements keeps the heart pumping! haha
I have limited photos at present (the rest are on my son's laptop in London) so for now
