I longed for the ocean and rocks and quiet moonlit walks, a place to unwind, savour and dream.. When I read the description of Taormina a town on a mountain it seemed the answer; our hotel said bungalows nestled among ancient pines at the edge of the beach and offered peace.... But there was something about Sicily, a kind of magnetism that exicited, stirred the blood and compelled you to wake-up, give way to adventure.

An Italian island on the tectonic plate of sultry Africa, drenched in sunshine, moulded by Roman, Greek, Spanish influences how could your heart not beat a little faster?

From the beach we take the cable car

and wander through the narrow streets

a small church tucked away

Down another narow street and through another arch we have the Greek theatre.

View from the steps above the theatre
