It’s caught in the spotlight time so here goes with Eight random things about me….
Requested by Moi who wants to know us all a little better. :-)
1. I love horses. I used to both ride and paint them.
I remember one time I fell off when trying to ride a three-quarter thoroughbred bareback and had a bruise on my thigh that was a perfect image of his shoe including the nails. I was quite proud of that. lol
2. Another horse related one. I can halve an apple with my hands, handy when there are two horses and one apple. It's just a knack and easily done you just pull and twist at the same time, but it used to creep some boys out when they couldn't do it.
3. Still in the stoneage: I grew up with woods and fields on my doorstep. When I was five contractors began to build a house opposite ours, close to the wood and the pond.
One Sunday when there were no workers at the site of the new house I stripped off my clothes and went to investigate. My dad soon found me dressed only in my knickers. I had climbed down into the foundations and was busy picking up newts that had fallen into the deep trenches. Dad should have been mad at me because my knickers and feet were all muddy but instead of grumbling he helped me pick up the newts and together we carried them back to the safety of the pond.
This is one of my favourite memories and a favourite story of my dad. "When the bairn was five...." He said that last year - I have a 25 year old son and he still called me the "baby"!
4. Love water but can't swim. I almost made it on holiday once but later found it was only the heavy salf content in the ocean that was keeping me up. I don't like swimming pools.
5. I'm trying to write a book and have been trying for the last three years. Well, in my defense I abandoned it for the past two and a half because I began deleting more than I was writing. :-)
6. I can't tell jokes. I either laugh because I know what's coming or spoil it by revealing the punch line and then have to explain the joke.
7. I love to sing (not in public) but do it badly.
8. (Made it! ) I'm a bit of a magpie and love collecting things; crystals, pebbles and rocks, to wood carvings, especially masks. I won't mention the books. lol

That statue looks quite eirie!!
Sandy saved the newts. Now you have something in common with Ken Livingstone.
Davem the statue was on the path leading to the open air theatre, I couldn't see his name.
loved reading the 8 facts..i was smiling through most of them......i would not have minded if you would have 8 more to the list :DDD
and i too am a sorta magpie..it's so hard for e to let go of things i keep acquiring but then we change homes and places and i have to just let go of them....:(
I know how you feel Moi we were thinking of moving a little while ago and I was amazed at just HOW much one magpie can hoard. Luckily it's been put on hold for a while. :-)
This was fun to read, Sandy. Based on Nos. 3 and 4, I'd guess you're a wood nymph rather than a water sprite.
