From another window on another journey, it rained. Just after Doncaster as the train travelled north I watched the storm gather on the horizon and the skies grow darker and darker as we sped deeper into its heart. Although it was barely after noon the carriage was plunged into darkness and even above the rumble of the train we could hear the rain pounding the roof and lashing against the windows. We wanted rain; we got it!
And, would you believe someone said, "Well, that's summer over. It didn't last long did it?"
Of course a few miles further on, the skies turned blue and the sun shone. Its hard to please everyone ~ but sometimes someone gets lucky. :)

I've always found the sound of trains, as well as the sound of rain, to evoke feelings of loneliness--but in a good way, if you can imagine that. It would have been interesting to hear both sounds together.

I know what you mean Velvet, but it was a journey of mixed emotions as I was visiting my father and he hasn't been well. Sometimes you can express things, sometimes you can't. :)

Enjoyed your pictures too. Whilst we will still get warm weather, Summer is nearly over, just watch the birds, they will tell.

Thanks.

This looks like the view out of my office window this morning. The wind is blowing so hard it's shaking the roof and you can't set foot outside without getting drenched, even with an umbrella.

I love storms though. And I bet most places affected by the heatwave do too - here in Oz we are in the middle of winter, consider this me sending you some cool weather.
